Hadith for High Achievement

HADITH
FOR HIGH ACHIEVEMENT

Islami Hospitality

The Prophet of Islam S.A.W.S. was always most generous in his hospitality.  All Arabia was under his rule.  Yet he opted to remain poor all his life.  He and his wives had the barest of provisions and quite often went without food.  Whenever they had something to eat, they shared their frugal fare with the indigent. On one occasion, however, when a man came to him hungry and he sent word to them to bring something for the person to eat, they had nothing at all except water to drink.

Narrating this, Abu Huraira R.A.A. says, as recorded in Sahih Bukhari, "Then Allah's Apostle S.A.W.S. said, 'Who will take this person and entertain him as a guest?'  An Ansar man (one of the citizens of Medinah who had given refuge to the Prophet S.A.W.S. and his followers on their migration from Makkah) took him to his home and told his wife to entertain generously ' the guest of Allah's Apostle Sal'.  She informed him they had only the repast for their children. Nothing more.

He advised her,  'Prepare your meal, light your lamp and let your children sleep if they ask for supper'.  She made a show of cooking, lighted the lamp for dinner and put the children to sleep.  Pretending to mend the lamp, she put it out.  And husband and wife made a great show of eating The guest had no inkling they were going hungry.  He had his fill.

In the morning the Holy Prophet S.A.W.S., was pleased with the Ansari and told him 'Tonight Allah laughed or wondered at your action'. And the verse was revealed:, praising the Ansars who 'had adopted the Faith (and) show their affection to such as come to them for refuge and …give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their own lot.  They and and (all) those saved from the covetousness of their own souls, they are the ones that achieve prosperity'."

(The revelation is from Holy Qur'an: Surah Al Hash'r: 9)

Seven persons who rank high on Judgment Day

The Prophet of Islam S.A.W.S.'s saying
Narrated by Abu Huraira R.A.A. and recorded in Sahih Muslim:
On the Day of Judgment, when there will be no shade anywhere except under the Throne of Allah, seven persons will be favored by Allah with this shelter:
A just ruler.
(2)  A young person who grows up worshipping  Allah.
A person whose heart retains an attachment for the Masjid
even when he comes out of it and  it stays with him until he
  returns to it.
Two persons who love and meet each other and separate
from each other (only) in the Cause of Allah.
A man is sought by a beautiful woman of high rank, who tries  to seduce him.  But he rejects the illicit offer, saying “I fear Allah.”
A person who gives charity and keeps it so secret that his
right hand does not know what his left hand has given; and
A person who had (always) remembered Allah when alone and            had shed tears of love for Allah.

The best gift we can give:

We are informed by the Prophet of Islam S.A.W.S. that when
a Muslim prays to Allahu Sub’hanahu va tha Aalaa
for the good of another Muslim
and that person is not present at the time,
the Angel designated by Allah
to bring in the invocations, says "A’meen!"
 and the Angel beseeches Allah
to reward both Muslims. (Sahih Muslim)
(And Allah is Most Magnanimous, Most Merciful to the believers).

Perjury is Banned in Islam

Imam Bukhari records the Hadith narrated by Abu Wa'il on the authority of Abdulla bin Masud (R.A.A.), an honoured sahaabi, companion:

The Messenger of Allah S.A.W.S. said, "Whoever takes an oath when asked to do so, through which he may deprive a Muslim of his property unlawfully, and he is a liar in his oath, he will meet Allah Who will be angry with him".

And Allah's revelation confirmed this: "As for those who sell the faith they owe to Allah and their own solemn pledge for a small price, they have no portion in the Hereafter.  Allah will neither speak to them nor look at them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He absolve them (of their sins). Theirs will be a grievous Chastisement".   (The Holy Qur’an: Al Imra’n: 77)

Islam says "No!" to Intoxicants

Imam Muslim conveys  the Hadith narrated by Ibn Umar R.A.A.:
The Messenger S.A.W.S. of Allah commanded us:
"Every intoxicant is Kharm'r and every intoxicant is forbidden.
"He who drinks wine (or any other liquor) in this world and dies without repenting and giving up the habit,
will not be given a pure drink in the Hereafter."

And another from Wai'l al Hadhrami R.A.A.: Tariq bin Suwaid al Ju'fi asked Allah's Messenger S.A.W.S. about liquor.
He forbade its use and expressed hatred that it should be prepared.
Tariq pleaded, " I prepare it as a medicine".
The Holy Prophet S.A.W.S. said, "It is no medicine, but an ailment."

This prohibition applies with equal force to
the entire range of drugs and narcotics.
Islam stands for a drug free, debauch free
and drink free world -- Author

One Half of the Population of Paradise
Will Be Muslim

Imam Bukhari onveys the Hadith from Abu Sayeed al Khud'ri R.A.A.:

The Holy Prophet S.A.W.S. said, "On the Day of Judgment Allah will call Adam and he will reply, 'Labbayek, our Lord, and Sada'yek'.  Then there will be a loud call: 'Allah orders you to take from among your offspring a mission for the (Hell) Fire!'

Adam will reply, 'Our Lord! Who are the 'mission' for the (Hell) Fire?'  Allah will say 'Out of each thousand, take out ninehundred and ninetynine'.
"At that every pregnant woman will have a miscarriage and a child will have grey hair. And you will see mankind as in a drunken state, though not (actually) drunk. But severe will be the torment (upon them) from Allah."

When the Prophet Sal mentioned this a'yat from the Holy Qur'an (Surath al Haj: 2), the people were so distressed (and awestruck) that their faces changed (color) and the Prophet S.A.W.S. said: "From Gog and Magog ninehundred and ninetynine will be taken out and one from you.

"(Compared to the others whose numbers will be large) You Muslims will be like a (lone) black hair on the side of a white ox, or a (lone) white hair on the side of a black ox; and I hope you will be one-fourth of the people of Paradise". At this, we said, "Allahu Akbar!"

Then he said; "(I hope you will be) one third of the people of Paradise".  We again said "Allahu Akbar!”  Then he said, "(I hope you will be) one-half of the population of Paradise".  So we said, "Allahu Akbar.”

In the Battle of Uhud

Imam Bukhari conveys from Anas (R.A.A.) an eminent companion of the Holy Prophet S.A.W.S., a sincere tribute to the Mothers of the Momineen (R.A.A.) for thenoble service they rendered to the wounded in the decisive Battle of Uhud.

He saw the venerated Ummahaathil Momineen Syedathi Ayesha, daugter of Syedina Abu Bakr and SyedathiUmm Salma (R.A.A.) bringing water to the wounded Muslims in waterskins carried on their heads. They poured the water into the mouths of the valiant fighters as they lay maimed and then went back and brought in more and more water and continued their lifesaving effort in the cause ofAllah.

                        The Bequests Whose Blessings Endure

The Holy Prophet S.A.W.S. informed us, according to a Hadith narrated by Syedina Abu Huraira (R.A.A.): On a man's death, all his deeds come to an end except three
(which survive him and live on).  They are:
His charity
(This extends like a chain from the first recipient to every
other beneficiary, like a fruitbearing tree planted by one person and its fruit is eaten by thousands of human beings, animals and birds;
and the blessings go to the planter, even if he is no more).

the knowledge of Islam that he has shared with anyone
(and that person conveys it to others and the torch of Faith is
handed on and on); and

the son he has begotten and trained in Islami duties.
(The young man prays to Allah for his parents' salvation
and the deceased are rewarded for their son's good deeds).

A Law for All Lands

The Mother of Momineen,
Syedathi Safiya binth Huyay,
recounts her visit to the Holy Prophet S.A.W.S.
when he was in Eithikaaf at the Masjid.

As night had fallen, he accompanied her home.
Two men, companions of the Prophet S.A.W.S., saw them
and were hurrying away when he called them
and explained that it was his wife Safiya
and he was escorting her home.

When they remonstrated and said
they dared not suspect the Holy Prophet S.A.W.S.,
he told them that Shaiy'taan circulates
like blood in the human mind and
he could plant evil thoughts in their hearts.
In effect he laid down the law
which is now honored worldwide:
It is not enough for a man to be good, he must also appear good and unimpeachable in the eyes of one and all!  (Sahih Bukhari)

Seeking Allah's Protection from All Calamities:

Mother of Momineen Syedhathi Ayesha R.A.A. has informed us, according to Sahih Muslim, that Syedina Muhammed Sallallahu Alaihi va Sallam sought Allah's protection from all calamities by this Dua:

ALLAHUMMA INNEE A'OOZUBIKA MIN FITHNATHIN NAAR VA AZAABIN NAAR VA FITHNATHIL QAB'R VA MIN SHARRI FITH'NATHIL GHINAA VA MIN SHARRI FITHNATHIL FAKH'R.  A'OOZUBIKA MIN FITHNATHIL MASEEHID DAJJAAL.  ALLAHUMMAGH'SIL KHATHAA'YAYA BI MAAYIL THAL'JI VAL BARADI VA NAQ'QI QAL'BEE MINAL KHATHAAYAA
KAMAA NAQ'QAI'YTHATH THA'VBAL ABIYAD MINAD DANSI VA BAAYID BAIY'NEE VA BAI'YNA KHATHAAYAYA  KAMAA BA'AD'THA BAIY'NAL MASHRIQI VAL MAGH'RIB.  ALLAHUMMA FA INNEE AOOZUBIKA MINAL KAS'LI VAL  HARAMI MAA'THAMI VAL MAGH'RAM.

"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the trial of Hell Fire and from the torment of Hell Fire, and from the trial of the Grave and the torment of the Grave, and from the evil of the trial of Affluence, and from the evil of the trial of Poverty and I seek refuge in You from the evil of the Atrocity of Dajjaal.

O Allah,(kindly) wash away my sins with snow and the water from hail, purify my heart from sins as is purified the white robe from the dirt and keep away the sins from me at a distance as the expanse between the east and the west.

O Allah I seek refuge in You from Sloth, from Senility, from Sin and from Indebtedness.  A'meen!
